Product site for a manufacturing supplier

A specification-heavy catalog made navigable, with datasheets that stay in sync with the source data.

Buyers arrive knowing a part number or a tolerance, not a product name. The old navigation assumed the opposite.

Approach

We rebuilt the catalog around filtering on the attributes buyers actually search by, and generated datasheets from the same source as the site so the two cannot drift.

Result

Time from landing to datasheet download dropped sharply, and the sales team stopped emailing PDFs by hand.

Designing for buyers who arrive with a part number

Technical buyers do not browse. They arrive knowing a specification, a tolerance or a part code, and the only question is how fast the site can confirm it has what they need. Navigation built around product families gets in the way of exactly that.

Filtering on real attributes is the fix, but it only works if the attribute data is clean and complete, which is usually the actual project. The second trap is documentation drift: a datasheet that says one thing and a product page that says another destroys trust instantly, and in engineering markets it is the datasheet buyers forward to their colleagues. Generating both from one source removes the problem rather than managing it.

Getting the identity right matters here too, because a supplier site competing on precision has to look precise; that is the sort of thing our brand and creative work handles alongside the build.
